There was deflation in September 2020 amounting to 0.05 percent. Highest deflation happened in the City Tangerang amounting to 0.07 percent

In September 2020 there was a deflation of 0.05 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 105.12. Two CPI cities in Banten Province experienced deflation and one CPI city experienced inflation. The highest deflation occurred in Kota Tangerang at 0.07 percent with a CPI of 104.62. Followed by the city of Serang at 0.05 with a CPI of 106.95. Cilegon City experienced inflation of 0.10 percent with the CPI of 106.17.

 Deflation occurred due to lower prices as indicated by the fall in the index for the recreation, sports and culture group by 0.77 percent; the food, beverage and tobacco group by 0.38 percent; and the transportation group by 0.17 percent. Meanwhile, the other groups that experienced an increase in the index were the equipment, tools and household routine maintenance group by 0.74 percent; the personal care and other services group of 0.57 percent; the clothing and footwear group by 0.10 percent; the food and beverage / restaurant supply group by 0.09 percent; Health group of 0.01. Meanwhile, the housing, water, electricity, and household fuels group; information, communication and financial services group; and the education group, did not experience a significant change of less than 0.00 percent.

The inflation rate for the calendar year for September 2020 is 0.98 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (September 2020 against September 2019) is 1.63 percent.
